Rock Climbing Gear Hire Rules
To avoid confusion as to who can hire which climbing equipment, for whom, and for what use (club vs private trips). See below for a hopefully exhaustive guide as to club policy on this issue.
Please be aware that this policy exists to ensure the safety, quality and continuity of ROC climbing trips. If you have questions about this or any other climbing related queries, please contact your relatively friendly climbing convenors via climbing@roc.org.au

Climbing ropes | Once you have the privilege of hiring a top rope, sport or lead rack, you will receive the appropriate rope for that rack. Whilst ROC may hire ropes for outdoor trips, dynamic rope hire for the specific purpose of indoor leading is expressly discouraged. We are an outdoor club, and we do not hire consumables to supplement the day-to-day training of individuals. |
*Individuals hiring a trad lead rack must be logged as lead trained in the ROC system. Even if they are externally trained and experienced, they must be checked off as safe to lead before they can hire club gear.
